I’m around 50% through Scarlet so far and, although it’s not quite what I expected it to be, I’m enjoying it. It’s got this fantasy romp vibe and the story is written with a levity that’s helping me stay interested. Definitely intrigued to see where the story is going.
Leah and I just finished our buddy read of this and, apart from a few teeny tiny pacing issues, I adored it. Bardugo just makes this series better with each book and I enjoyed seeing the more emotional side of Alex in this one.
Jordyn and I are going to be starting our buddy read of Perilous Times next week! I’m so happy she asked if I would buddy read it with her, because it’s a chunk and I just know chatting with her is going to make it easier to write my review. I also treated myself to the next book in the Finlay Donovan series and I’m going to have to pick it up asap because I adored book one!

Scarlet took me by surprise as I had forgotten (or never read the blurb properly) that it was a story about the Scarlet Pimpernel. I did enjoy it but thought that most of the characters were a bit 2D

Totally agree. I like Eleanor, but the others read almost like caricatures.

Yay, I’m so glad you enjoyed Finlay!!! Everyone is raving about Hell Bent and I haven’t even read book 1! haha

It was so much fun! And just what I needed after a boat load of fantasy… Ninth House is brilliant but extremely dark and has some pretty graphic scenes so i’d made sure you check the trigger warnings before going in 😀
