Hello, hello! Can you believe it’s December. I am not remotely prepared for Christmas this year AT All, so I’m in a kind of ‘sticking my head in the sand’ kind of denial that it’s as close as it is! The book I’ve chosen to spotlight for this week is a contemporary fantasy set in a magical New Orleans that deals with powerful magical families, and integenerational curses.

So, not quite in the Christmas spirit, but it sounds damn good. Ready to find out what it is?

Thirty years ago, a young woman was murdered, a family was lynched, and New Orleans saw the greatest magical massacre in its history. In the days that followed, a throne was stolen from a queen.

On the anniversary of these brutal events, Clement and Cristina Trudeau—the sixteen-year-old twin heirs to the powerful, magical, dethroned family—are mourning their father and caring for their sick mother.
