Monthly TBR – August 2022!

So, July didn’t go quite as well as I had hoped. Of the 10 books on my TBR I managed 9, and my August is even bigger than last month. I have 14 books on my TBR for this month not including the 1 I didn’t manage to read in July… basically I’m screwed lol. The good thing is I don’t have any holidays planned for this month, so should have more time for reading… Still not sure I’m going to get through all of these though! This month is filled with the usual ARC’s & buddy reads, but I also have a few blog tour posts scheduled for this month and I’m excited to pick all the books up. What do your Augusts looks like reading wise? Let me know in the comments.

Figured I’d start with a Hodder filled section. The Dragon’s Promise is one I am SO EXCITED to get my hands on. I adored Six Crimson Cranes, and can’t wait to see where Lim is going to take the story. The Drowned Woods is steeped in Welsh Mythology, so I’m pretty much guaranteed to love it. I’ve heard a lot of positive things about Belladonna, and a friend of mine highly praised it, so I’m excited to give it a read. The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches has been compared to The House in the Cerulean Sea which I loved so excited to give it a read.

Waking the Witch is the second book steeped in Welsh Mythology on my TBR for this month and filled with female empowerment. I was initially drawn to the cover of Daughter of Darkness, but the story sounds equally as beautiful and I’m excited to give it a read. The Book Eaters sounds dark and creepy and incredibly unique. Epic is how I would describe The First Binding, it’s also a chonk so equally excited and wary to give this one a read.

I’m in a blog tour for The Women Could Fly and, although I haven’t read many reviews, the one’s I have have been really positive… plus I’m on a roll with feminist fantasy atm and loving it all. Orbit kindly granted my requests for two of my most anticipated reads of the year. I CANNOT WAIT to pick up The Oleander Sword, Tasha Suri is a favourite author of mine and I’m SO excited to see where she is taking the story. The Monsters We Defy sounds fun and right up my street with a ragtag crew, a heist and historical fantasy all rolled into one.

I am on blog tours for both Small Angels and The Change and will be buddy reading them with Jordyn and Susan. Leah and I are also hoping to get to our buddy read for Goddess in the Machine after putting it on hold to read Babel last month… I mean, can you blame us.

I’m not even bothering with my 12 months / 12 friends / 12 books prompt this month because there is absolutely no chance of me getting to it. So wish me luck, and I hope you all have a fab reading month in August!

I can’t wait to read Sangu Mandanna’s book cos I’ve heard so many awesome things about it already and it just looks like that perfectly comforting read that I love? I also need to read Dragon’s Promise, Drowned Woods and Belladonna this month and I’m looking forward to all of them! 😍 I hope you enjoy all these reads, Becky and have a great August!

  2. I can’t wait for Goddess in the Machine, even though I regret nothing about putting it off for Babel! And I am really looking forward to seeing what you think about The Oleander Sword and Belladonna, both of which I adored.
