Monthly TBR – April 2022

Hello! I somehow managed to read 13 books last month!?! Yes, you read that right. 13 books is probably the most I’ve ever managed in a month and I’m really surprised because I went though a huge fantasy slump mid way through March… thanks to the The Love Hypothesis & The Unlikely Escape of Uriah Heep for getting me through that one. This month I have a lowly 10 books on my TBR, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed I managed to make it through them all.

ARC’s

I love Arthurian re-tellings so couldn’t resist requesting Spear via Netgalley. It’s only just under 200 pages so I’m hoping this will be a quick read for me. Saint Death’s Daughters sounded too unique to pass up on, an assassin who has an aversion to blood & violence! So fingers crossed I end up loving it. A Portrait of a Thief is one I’m hoping will live up to the hype, so many authors I love have raved about this on twitter, and I have to say the premise certainly sounds like something I would enjoy.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about The Blood Trials, and the fact that it’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy certainly has me intrigued. A story about a girl who is cursed, and a girl who fights against it, as well as the patriarchy… Blood to Poison has all this & more so I can’t wait to start it. I read my first T. Kingfisher book the other year and fell in love with her writing style so I couldn’t resist requesting Nettle and Bone, it sounds truly unique and has a possessed chicken as a character… what more do you want.

Buddy Reads

Susan managed to snag me an early copy of , In a Garden Burning Gold , the new Rory Power book so of course we will be buddy reading it! This will be my first power book, but it sounds like it’s filled with dark magic and mythology, so it probably won’t be my last. Leah and I will also be picking up Siren Queen which sounds amazing and unlike anything else I’ve read, plus I’m a little in love with that cover.

Blog Tours

I’m on a blog tour with The Write Reads for The Knave of Secrets in early May & I can’t wait to pick it up, it sound like it will be a fun read and filled with a unique magic system.

12 months / 12 friends / 12 books

Master of Sorrows is the 4th book on my 12 months / 12 friends / 12 books tag and seeing as I haven’t read a bad one so far, I have incredibly high expectations for this. It’s been on my TBR for a good few years, so I’m excited to finally pick it up.

What do you think? Have any of these books made your April TBR? Or have you read any already? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
