Monthly TBR – August!

Hello! Does anyone else feel like this year is just flying by? January seems like it was only yesterday, but one thing I have enjoyed is the chance to get out and catch up with family and friends I haven’t seen in a while. With me socialising a little more now my reading time has been a little cut down, but I still managed to get through 10 books last month and have 9 on my TBR for August. As usual it’s a mix of ARC’s, buddy reads and blog tours/author copies. I’m slowing down on my NG request for the rest of the year because I really want to get some backlist titles read, so fingers crossed I can control myself! What do your August TBR’s look like? Are you planning to read any of the below this month? Let me know in the comments.

ARC’s

First off can I just highlight how beautiful the above covers are! I’ve been looking forward to A Dragonbird in the Fern since it was announced & was very happy when I got approved for it on NG. A dyslexic MC, an arranged marriage and a murder mystery definitely have me intrigued & I’ve read some really positive reviews so far. Do I really have to say why Certain Dark Things has made my TBR? Silvia Moreno-Garcia has fast become a favourite author of mine and this Vampire novel set in Mexico City sounds right up my street. I hadn’t actually heard about In the Watchful City, but after reading some rave reviews from trusted bloggers I just had to add it to my TBR. The Boy With Fire is another one I hadn’t really heard of but a tweet of the authors popped up on my Twitter and it’s description of Dune meets The Poppy War ensured I downloaded it asap.

Buddy Reads

Susan @ Novel Lives and my buddy reads have become a monthly thing now and August see’s us picking up two epic sounding fantasy reads. The Endless Skies is one Susan put on my radar and it’s description makes it sound like it’s full of adventure, action and romance… things that pretty much guarantee an add to my TBR. As soon as I read the synopsis for The Maleficent Seven I instantly downloaded it, a story that focuses on the villains?!? Who have to get the band back together to save the world?!? What more could you want from a story.

Blog Tours /Author Copies

Bloody Spade sounds so unique, with a fresh magic system and bunch of rogue characters, it didn’t take long for me to email the author back confirming I would love a copy for review. I’m part of The Write Reads tour for Fireborn, and although I’m not usually the biggest MG fan, this one sounded too good to pass up on. The tour starts on Aug 5th so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for all the amazing posts. I LOVED Odriel’s Heirs when I read it last year so when Hayley emailed asking if I wanted to read the sequel I jumped at the chance. Though this story is based on new characters I’m looking forward to returning to the world and seeing what she has in store for us.

And that’s my mega TBR for August! Wish me luck & I hope you get through all the books you have planned for this month.
