Julies Questions.

Whats your most anticipated read for the rest of 2021?

Oooh this is a hard choice because there are so many amazing books out this year, but if I have to pick one I would go with Empire of the Vampire. I’ve been a fan of Kristoff’s work for a while now and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us next.

What was your favourite book when you were a kid?

I was a big Roald Dahl fan growing up and my favourites were Fantastic Mr Fox and the Vicar of Nibbleswick. His books were always so magical and out there, and probably the reason why I’m such a big fantasy reader today.

If you could turn any book or series into a movie/film, which would you choose?

A lot of series I’ve loved have had TV shows announced recently & I am so hyped for them all! But one I would love to see made into a TV show is The Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee. It is such an epic series and Lee’s writing style and the fight scenes would lend itself really well to the big screen.

Have you ever written or considered writing a book?

I actually have about 7,000 words of a book currently sitting on my computer. I started it last year and it kind of fell by the wayside. I would love to come back to it at some point, but I just don’t think I’m in the right place to pick it back up at the minute.

What would be the title of the book based on your life?

Hmmm… Diary of a Dimwitted Book Lover? I feel like that pretty much sums me up lol.

If they make a movie based on your life, who would you cast as actor/actress for your role?

I’ve actually never really thought of this! But after seeing Shadow and Bone, and knowing how much I relate to Nina I would have to go with Danielle Galligan who plays her in the show.

What is your favourite read of 2021?

Gah! Only one? This is so hard, but I would have to go with A Master of Djinn by P. Djèlí Clark. I had ridiculously high expectations going into this and it met every single one. Fatma has become one of my all time favourite characters & I just can’t get enough of the steam-punk Cairo he’s created.

What are you currently reading?

I have a couple of books on the go at the minute. I’m re-reading Susan Dennards Witchlands series so I’m up to date for Witchshadow later this month, and I’m also reading The Wolf and the Woodsman by Ava Reid, I’ve only just started this, but am loving it so far.

Is there a book you keep saying “one day I will read it” but you never do?

Hahaha, pretty much every single book on my backlog! There are a ridiculous amount of books on my shelves/kindle that I keep meaning to get to. One that springs to mind though is The Library of the Unwritten, I’ve heard some really positive things about the series and am eager to read the first book.

Can you name an underrated book you read and loved?

Definitely the North series by Alexandria Warwick! Book one and two Below and Night are out now, and book 3 Hunt is out later this year. Set in a harsh arctic style world and filled with Inuit mythology, heaps of magic and some great disability rep, I tell everyone I know to read this series because it’s just so good!

Whats one book you wish you could re-read for the first time?

I love this question! All of them? Haha, but seriously I would go with These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong. As soon as I had finished it I wanted to re-read it, but being able to read not knowing all the twists and turns would be a lot more fun… also I still can’t quite believe that it’s a debut!

My Questions!

What is your go to genre, and your favourite book in that genre?

If you could play a character in a movie of your book of choice, who would you pick and why?

What is your favourite blog post you have written?

What book has been on your TBR the longest?

What is a book/series you always recommend to people?

What book first got you into reading?

What movie would you love to be made into a book?

Who are your insta-buy authors?

What are the longest and shortest book’s you’ve read?

Do you listen to music whilst reading? If so what kind?

What would be the title of the book based on your life?

My nominations:

Sammie / Ellie / Stephen / Max / Rejitha / Leslie / Leah / Kat / Kerri
