Characters Whose Job I wish I had – Top Ten Tuesday!

Hello hello! I thought I would find this TTT prompt a lot harder than I did! But I actually struggled narrowing it down to only 10. There are a lot of awesome sounding jobs out there, some slightly more dangerous than I would like but hey, at least they would keep you on your toes. Surprisingly my childhood dream job of a Princess never makes an appearance, and I would love to say that’s because I have matured with age, but as you will see when you read my selections, that simply isn’t the case… my imagination just got a whole lot better. What would your dream job be out of the books you have read? Did any of mine make your list? Let me know in the comments.

Top Ten Tuesday is run by Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl and you should definitely go give her blog some love.

Arthur Parnassus – The House in the Cerulean Sea

Take me to the house in the Cerulean sea and surround me with weird and wonderful kids & I would lead a very happy life. I genuinely think this would be an amazing, if not sometimes slightly dangerous job, and I would just love to help raise those amazing and devious kids.

Porter – The Gatekeeper of Pericael

I think being a gatekeeper to another world would be such a cool job. Minus, you know, the guys wanting to kill you etc. Maybe a nice world, full of beaches, no evil guys allowed.

Amari – Amari and the Night Brothers

Ok so working for the Supernatural Bureau of Affairs would be SO COOL! I’d be happy as a janitor if it meant I got to spend my days wandering the halls. But being an Agent would be cool too.

Bree – Legendborn

Why yes, thank you, I would love to be the living reincarnation of one of Arthur’s fabled nights. I know it’s not a job per se, but it would be ridiculously cool… again preferably without all the things trying to kill me, but I suppose I could deal if I got super powers.

The Time Police

I’ll fully admit that I would fit into Team Weird more than any other team, but I would LOVE the chance to travel through time. See the Ancient Egyptians, Rome etc.

Cara – The Space Between Worlds

Apart from the whole ‘you have to be dead to travel to another universe’ malarkey, I think Universe hopping would be such an interesting job. Seeing the Butterfly effect in action, and how one small change can affect a whole world.

Casiopea – Gods of Jade and Shadow

Is travelling across South America with a dashing if not somewhat oblivious God of the underworld a job? No? Well it should be as it’s something I, personally, think I would excel at.

Elisabeth – A Sorcery of Thorns

I would literally get to be around AND talk to books all day… I really don’t think I need to say anything more.

Cat – Aurora Rising

I’ve always been a little obsessed with Space, and I love flying so the obvious thing would be to become the best Space Pilot around right. I mean, if you’re gonna do a job, you might as well do it well. You may now refer to me as Ace.

Daine – Wild Magic

I mean, I would be like Dr Doolittle, only I could also turn into animals! It would be super handy for travelling and avoiding plane costs etc… the nakedness might get a little awkward but it would totally be worth it.

    • Thanks! And I can’t recommend Amari & the Night Brothers enough. I’m not normally big on MG but it’s such a fun read. I like your idea. I’ll have to go check it out 😊

  1. Oh my goodness! My initial reaction was gosh this would be hard to think of, but then I started thinking about and you’re right – there are so many cool jobs out there. You’ve got some great selections here – wouldn’t it be great if we could really run off to do these?

  2. Omg, how did I even miss Elisabeth’s character!? 🙈 Imagine being surrounded by all those talking books! Sounds like absolute heaven (as long as they’re not trying to kill me or get me killed LOL)! Great list, Becky! Couldn’t agree more with so many of these and it makes me even more excited to read the ones that are still on my TBR 😍
