Hello Hello! I know it’s Monday but I’m feeling weirdly energised today ( I’m sure that will change by the end of the week.) I spent my weekend reading and going for long walks and just found it really relaxing. I also spent it filling in a bookish spreadsheet I have and it made me realise how many series I own that I haven’t started or finished. One of my aims for this year was to read more of my backlog titles, so I’m hoping to be able to fit a few of these series in throughout the year. These are all ones that seem to be getting all the hype, so I’m really hoping they live up to expectations. Have you read any of the below? What did you think of them? Or are you aiming to read/finish any series this year? Let me know in the comments.
Wayfarers by Becky Chambers
I read the first book in this series years ago and remember really enjoying it, so I’m not sure why I’ve never picked the rest up. I have e-books for 1-3 (and I will definitely need to re-read 1) and book 4 is out this year so at least I wont have that long wait in between books. I know so many bloggers who love this series, so I’m really excited to give it another go.
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
Another series where I read book 1 and never carried on with it (I’m seeing a theme here 🤔). I did order the beautiful Fairyloot editions (yes, even after only reading one books years ago) so keeping all my fingers and toes crossed that I love them as much as I remember.
Ashen Torment Series by Den Patrick
I actually accidentally downloaded ‘Stormtide’ off Netgalley without realising it was book two in the series 🤦♀️, but then luckily found book one in a charity shop. I really like the premise for this series, and the goodreads reviews seem really positive so I’m excited to give it a go.
Renegades by Marissa Meyer
I’ve actually read the first two books in this series, but then 2020 happened and I got myself into a bit of an Arc/Blog Tour backlog and all my physical books had to wait. I think I might need to give book two a re-read, I remember a cliffhanger, but can’t quite remember what happened. But this is definitely a series I want to finish.
The Illuminae Files by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman
I can’t tell you how long I’ve had this series on my TBR. I adore Kristoff and Kaufman so I know the likelihood is I will love this series, but I’m just so afraid it wont live up to the hype. I did download the audio-book because I’ve heard a few people say they really enjoyed reading a long with it, so keep your fingers crossed for me.

I hope you enjoy all of these! I just finished the final book in the Wayfarers series and I loved it–the whole series is wonderful–and I keep meaning to give An Ember in the Ashes a try. Happy reading!

So glad you enjoyed Wayfarers… although I don’t think I’ve read a bad review for it yet! Ember is one I’ve been meaning to get back to do ages, so keeping my fingers crossed it will be this year ☺️

Aren’t they! Glad I’m not the only one who adds a book to their tbr based mainly on the cover 😂

To Be Taught, If Fortunate was one of my favorites in 2020 and it introduced my to Becky Chambers. Now I wanna read everything she wrote! Soooooo, Wayfarers is also in my TBR and I’m very excited!

I also bought the fairyloot edition of An Ember in the Ashes and I’ve only read the synopsis of the first book!

I really want to get to Supernova soon because I’ve loved the rest of the series! Hahaha, I hope you enjoy Ember then. Can’t blame you though because the covers are just *chefs kiss*

I can highly recommend the Illuminae Files…really unusual, but good, straight-forward sci-fi with something quirky about it. I thought it was brilliant.

Oh my goodness so many of these are on my list as well – and the ones that aren’t, they are now! I’m with on all the way on trying to clear some of the backlist titles that I still haven’t got around to – I always feel like I’m really behind, especially when it comes to popular books. Great list – and I hope you can get to them soon!

Oh, hai there. What is this? Why have I not heard of the Ashen Torment Series? Those covers are seriously gorgeous! I want to own them because the covers are so gorgeous, which is a horrible reason, but in my defense, the series sounds great, too. xD I look forward to hearing what you think when you read them!
Also, I’m pretty sure you’ll love Illuminae Files. I absolutely did, almost immediately after starting book one!

Hahaha I can’t Judge you at all cause a large portion of my tbr were picked based on the cover 🙈. But yea, they do sounds great & ive been meaning to get to them for ages.
I think with illuminae I’m just afraid it won’t live up to the hype. Which I know won’t be the case cause it’s Kristoff & Kauffman & at worst I’ll end up in a bawling mess of emotions… but I will have loved it 😂

You will 1,0000% end up a bawling mess of emotions. Sorry, not sorry. xD Totally worth the read, though. I’m forever afraid that books won’t live up to the hype, too, so I can’t really say anything on that front haha.
