The Outstanding Blogger Award!

Hello Hello! I was tagged in The Outstanding Blogger Award by the lovely Julie over at One Book More. If you haven’t checked out her blog yet you totally should, she writes some truly brilliant reviews.

The Outstanding Blogger Award was originally created by Colton Beckwith.

Rules:

  • Provide the link to the creator’s original award post. (very important: see why in step 5)
  • Answer the questions provided.
  • Create 7 unique questions.
  • Nominate 10 bloggers. Ensure that they are aware of their nomination. Neither the award’s creator, nor the blogger that nominated you, can be nominated.
  • At the end of 2020, every blog that ping-backs the creator’s original post will be entered to win the 2020 Outstanding Blogger Award!

Julies Questions!

Do you have any bookish or non-bookish goals for 2021?

The only real bookish goal I have for 2021 is my Goodreads one. I have become slightly better at sticking to a TBR, but after the absolute failure of last years reading challenge ( you know… me not reading one book on it) I’ve decided to just read what I want. I am aiming to get through more backlist books this year (already read one!) But I’m not setting myself any hard goals.

Which books are you most looking forward to reading in 2021?

Oh man, so many! I’ve already done two posts:

Anticipated Releases (Non-Debut)

Anticipated Releases (Debut)

But even these only cover a small amount of the titles I’m looking forward too. I already have around 110 books on my 2021 releases tag on Goodreads ( not looking so good for my backlist is it?) So some not included on the above lists are: Little Thieves by Margaret Owen, Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune, The Bronzed Beasts by Roshani Chokshi, No Gods, no Monsters by Cadwell Turnbull & A Master of Djinn by P.Djeli Clark.

What are you currently reading?

I’ve just started The Mask of Mirrors by M.A. Carrick. It’s slow starting but the world is truly unique and the magic system is very intricate. I’m loving the main character so far, and am definitely exited to see where the story is going to go.

Ren is a con artist who has come to the sparkling city of Nadežra with one goal: to trick her way into a noble house, securing her fortune and her sister’s future.

But as she’s drawn into the elite world of House Traementis, she realizes her masquerade is just one of many surrounding her. And as nightmare magic begins to weave its way through the City of Dreams, the poisonous feuds of its aristocrats and the shadowy dangers of its impoverished underbelly become tangled…with Ren at their heart.

Do you prefer series or standalones?

It really depends on my mood. If I’m hankering for something fast, or have a few days spare and don’t want to get deep into a series then standalones are perfect. But, I do love the depth of character and world you get with a series. Few standalones can manages that ( although some do) and I’m all for slow burn romance and angst which can just get dragged out more in a series.

Which animal best describes your personality?

Oh I’m not sure my favourite animal is an Elephant but… maybe a cat. I like having cuddles, meeting up with friends and being sociable, but I also LOVE time to myself, to just sit and listen to music/read etc…which is basically how my cat acts. If she wants cuddles she will come to you, if she doesn’t we all know it’s better to leaver her alone!

Do you have a favourite book or author?

This is such a hard one! I have so many favourite books and auto-buy authors BUT I did just read The House in the Cerulean Sea and it blew me away. I can’t tell you how much I loved it, my review is coming Thursday and it’s a lot of me rambling about just how great it was (not even sorry!) It’s definitely made me want to pick up more of the authors work. Author wise I do love Jay Kristoff, he’s so brilliant at reader interaction and I love his books.

Describe your blog in three words.

Oh God I hate these. Maybe:

Enthusiastic, Witty (I hope) and Entertaining?

I had so much fun answering those questions. I am going to tag people, but steal Julie’s questions because they are brilliant and I would love to see people’s answers to them( But also please feel free to take part, even if I haven’t tagged you). I’m Tagging:

Leah

Susan

Dini

Stephen

Ellie

  1. Thank you so much for the tag, Becky! I loved reading your answers as always, your blog is definitely all of those words you describe it with, and it’s nice how your cat reflects your personality so well. Also very much looking forward to The Bronzed Beasts!

Haha, I love them. ❤️ I can’t wait for more Klune as well (also looove the cover for his upcoming book)!

    • Hahaha me too on that one! I love Elephants. I don’t have a tattoo yet but I am thinking about getting one 👀. Isn’t he just hilarious, I mean his books kill me, but he’s just too funny on Twitter/Instagram. I love the cover for it too, it’s quirky & similar to Cerulean, also sounds like it’s going to make me very emotional too 😂
