Favourite Book Quotes of 2020- Top Ten Tuesday!

I’ve done a couple of these ‘Favourite Quotes’ style posts, and generally always end up with the same few. So this time I thought I would change it up and pick quotes from some of the books I have read, and loved, so far in 2020. It was hard to pick just one quote from most of these incredible books, but these are by far some of my favourites. Do you have any favourite quotes from your 2020 reads? Let me know in the comments.

Top Ten Tuesday is run by Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl and you should definitely go give her blog some love.

Burn – Patrick Ness

“I’m just a girl.” “It is tragic how well you have been taught to say that with sadness rather than triumph.”

The Court of Miracles – Kester Grant

“Escape, my Lord? I’m the Cat of the Thieves Guild.” I smile in the darkness. “I’m here to steal you.”

This Eternity of Masks and Shadows – Karsten Knight

“After a moment Sedna touched her earpiece. “Vulcan, you set up the nets on the north side of the building right?””Yes,” Vulcan replied, and then added incredulously, “Did you confirm that after kicking the creep out of the window?”

Ghost Wood Song – Erica Waters

All this family ever does is bury its secrets, and yet they keep climbing out of the dirt and sneaking up on us. Maybe if we just dig them up and face them, they can’t hurt us all so much. Maybe if we speak them out loud, they won’t have so much power over us.

Court of Lions – Somaiya Daud

” Why is this not enough?” he whispered. For long moments the only sound in the room was our breathing. But I could not give him what he asked. My pride and dignity were all I had left. “I am half of what I ought to be,” I said softly, and drew myself away. “And I would rather be dead than a slave.”

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue – Victoria Schwab

“Estele’s face darkens. ‘The old gods may be great, but they are neither kind nor merciful. They are fickle, unsteady as moonlight on water, or shadows in a storm. If you insist in calling them take heed: be careful what you ask for, be willing to pay the price.’She leans over Adeline, casting her in shadow. ‘And no matter how desperate or dire. never pray to the gods that answer after dark.”

Night – Alexandria Warwick

“Ila did not want to be cowed anymore, or weak. She had been born into the life of a mouse and wished she had been granted life as a serpent so she may shed this old skin.”

A Declaration of the Rights of Magicians – H.G. Parry

“And now you’re free. Don’t be better as a slave in fear than you are as a free woman with all the power in the world.”

Bone Shard Daughter – Andrea Stewart

“When everyone was asleep, I felt alone in the world. There was a comfort in that loneliness, the soft touch of black silk wrapped around me, hiding me away. My father might have ruled the Empire, but when he was asleep, when Bayan and all the servants were asleep, this palace was my kingdom.”

The Space Between Worlds – Micaiah Johnson

“If this is how death finds me, at least it will be different. I have died a hundred ways, but never in defence of another. Not until now.”

  1. Aww man, you start with that quote and it’s just *chef’s kiss*. I haven’t read Burn yet, but I definitely need to. I totally need to read Ghost Wood Song, too! That quote!!

… you know … this post is kind of starting to feel like a list of books I should’ve read already and haven’t. I feel mildly attacked. xD Love all these quotes, though!
