This weeks prompt was ‘Questions I would ask my favourite authors’ and I definitely struggled with this one… mainly because the books I read usually leave me wanting to ask the author WHY??? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!? Why would you put my favourite, absolute cinnamon roll of a character through that? Why couldn’t you just hit A over the head with a book so they realise their mean to be with B? Who ends a book like that??? You get the jist right? I love me some angst, cliffhangers, slow burn romance and all the drama in between, but when I hit a certain part of the book it takes all my self control not to open twitter and just shout into the void. So I’m going to highlight the books that had me screaming into the void, the ones that had be flinging the book across the room, or gently placing my Kindle down and screaming into a pillow.

Top Ten Tuesday is run by Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl and you should definitely go give her blog some love.
Godsgrave – Jay Kristoff
Lets be honest. This whole series is filled to the brim with WTF moments, but I think the last few chapters of Godsgrave take the cake. Baby brother back from the dead. Ex Lover back from the dead. Daddy issues (understatement of the year.) I flew through this book knowing it wasn’t going to end well but needing all the little hints to come together. My Question… What the ever loving fuck is going to happen in book three?!?
Silvered Serpents – Roshani Chokshi
Talk about idiot boys who need whacking over the head! Yes Severin… I’m talking to you. This book was filled with tense, grip the page moments. Moments that made me want to scream at both the characters and the author and one hell of a cliffhanger. So my question… Do you like torturing your readers Miss Chokshi??? Because you are bloody good at it.
The Empire of Gold – S.A Chakraborty
You might say I knew what I wasn getting myself in for with this one. The other two books hadn’t gone too well for the main characters and we had not one, but two idiots who needed a good whack over the head. BUT as well as a plethora of WTF moments, some be still my heart bits and a couple of ‘oh no… my poor cinnamon roll’ parts we got an ending that was both open and closed. So my question, and maybe a bit of wishful thinking…When are we getting book four?
Ninth House – Leigh Bardugo
Another book filled with WTF moments. We get a cinnamon roll in mortal trouble… dont worry Darlington, were coming for you. As well as a main character that you don’t really like, Ghost sexual assualt?!? And Dark Arts academia. I think my question for Miss Bardugo after reading this one would be, are you ok?
The Dragon Republic – R.F. Kuang
If you like books with enough twists and turns to give you a drunk buzz then this series might just be for you. If you dont like crazy ass fire girls who literally have no idea what they’re doing, soooo many shades of grey it could rival that book, and moments that have you willing to throw the book out of a moving vehicle… well then I don’t know what you’re doing here. My Question would be – Please tell me Kitay gets a semi happy ending?
King of Scars – Leigh Bardugo
You want to talk about endings that come out of nowhere? Well then this is the book for you. I was sat there, happily watching Nikolai try and overcome is literal inner demons… hoping him and Zoya would get their heads out of their arses, LOVING Bi and kick ass Nina… and then BAM. The ending hits you like a tonne of bricks. So I ask you Miss Bardugo… Did you have this planned all along?
Kingdom of Ash – Sarah J Maas
Why! Why! Why! Sarah J Maas has a tendency to kill off or put my favourite characters into some kind of mortal peril… I think I had a permanently raised heartbeat whilst reading this book. Everything was going fine… It looked like the might win and then *whoosh* there go your faves… sayonara suckers, its been nice having you around. I couldn’t believe what my eyes were reading, and then it all went to hell. So Miss Maas… ‘Why can’t you give us one character who isn’t tortured in some way?
Tyrants Throne – Sebastien De Castell
I still don’t think I forgive De Castell for the ending to this series. Falcio, Kest and Brasti have risked their lives, various body parts and in Kests case souls to bring about the King’s dying wish. But no, you had to go and give me an ending that had me ugly crying and cursing your name. My question – Why would you do that?!?

I love this lol “are you ok?” authors definitely do know how to evoke strong emotions out of us using their work and I always find that part of publishing super interesting!

I would love to meet so many authors, but I Think all my carefully constructed questions would go out the window if it actually happened. Here was my go at this ttt 😊: https://hundredsandthousandsofbooks.blog/2020/08/25/top-ten-tuesday-questions-for-my-favourite-authors/

Omg now I’m terrified to read Kingdom of Ash but UGH, the whole Nevernight series had me SCREAMING. Kristoff really knows how to mess with the feels. I was not okay 😂 The rest of these are still all on my TBR (or at least the first books are for most of them) and… I guess I won’t be OK? Haha
