Hi everyone! I saw this tag over on One More & I loved reading her answers so much I just knew I had to take part myself. This tag was created by Tiffany of About To Read over on BookTube apparantly a while ago… but readers always have problems.
You have 20,000 books in your TBR, how in the world do you decide what to read next?
I am the biggest mood reader, so as much as I try ( and mostly fail) to read books based on release date, I generally just end up reading whatever sounds most interesting… or completely ignoring my TBR and re-reading a favourite.
You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you put it down or are you committed?
If you’d have asked me this last year I would have said no. I’ve realised that I don’t need to waste time on something I’m not enjoying. Sometimes i’ll come back to it, if I feel I just wasn’t in the mood for it. But most of the time they just get dumped.
The end of the year is coming and you’re behind on your reading challenge, do you try to catch up? And if so, how?
Yes! I am ridiculously competitive & do not like to back down from a challenge. I’ll sometimes re-read favourites that I know I can fly through, or try and find books that have small page counts.
The covers of a series you love do not match, how do you cope?
Ack! This is every book lovers nightmare. Non matching covers, different sized paperbacks. Why do publishers not realise the anxiety this causes when our shelves don’t look all neat and tidy. Honestly it’s just rude.
Everyone and their mother loves a book that you do not. Who do you bond with over your shared feelings?
Ha, I’m lucky to have a few bookish friends who will listen to me rant about a book, even if they loved it. Everyone needs someone they can rant too right?
You’re reading a book in public and you’re about to start crying. How do you deal?
Ok so funny story. I thought it would be a good idea to read The Kite Runner while I was at work (yea I’m not the smartest) which ended up with me feigning illness so I could hide in the toilet and cry my eyes out. Not one of my proudest moments.
The sequel to a book you loved just came out but you’ve forgotten a lot of what happens. Are you going to reread it?
There are some amazing authors out there (Jay Kristoff) who give us a chapter, just one where they go over the big points that happened in the past book. If we don’t get that, then yes I will re-read the first book.
You do not want anyone to borrow your books, how do you politely say no when someone asks?
I have, in the past, bought another copy of a book (I’m talking second hand pb) to lend to friends who have asked for copies of my books. If I don’t have a that, then I just keep saying I forgot to bring it until they stop asking.
You have picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over this reading slump?
This isn’t going to be a surprise but re-reading a book/series that I loved usually gets me out of a slump easily enough. Also a good dive into fan-fiction can really help me.
There are so many books coming out that you are dying to read, how many do you end up buying?
All of them? I’m pretty sure, when I became a blogger, my bank thought someone was robbing me month by month. I used to buy books, but nowhere near the amount I buy now. I have very little impulse control, at least it gives my postman a good laugh.
After you purchase all of these books that you’re dying to read how long do they sit on your shelves before you get to them?
I feel so called out! I think I have a book on my shelf that I bought around 5 years ago that I still haven’t picked up. Not for lack of interest, more I kinda keep forgetting it’s there. But I take solace in knowing I am not the only one in this predicament… I mean its practically par for the course for us bloggers right?
I’m not going to tag anyone specifically but please feel free to take part & tag me so I can read your answers.
