Hello! I have another amazing blogger to spotlight this week from our awesome BBNYA panel, everyone say hi to Beth who blogs at Bethany and Books. Beth posts some amazing reviews, not just of books but also TV dramas and posts some beautiful instagram photos… I am in love with those book page flowers! I’ve linked to all her social media below so be sure to give her a follow.
To start off with tell us a little about you
Hi! I’m Bethany (but a lot of people call me Beth) and I’m eighteen. I’m currently on a gap year trying to figure out what I want to do with my life after finishing compulsory education. I’m a Hufflepuff which tells you pretty much everything you need to know about my personality.
When did you start blogging and what made you decide to start your blog?
My blog has gone through a lot of changes as I’ve grown up. I started in 2017 when I had just started my GCSEs. At this point, I was a MASSIVE Zoella fan and so I started a blog that was mainly lifestyle. It’s changed a lot since then focusing on books, then lifestyle and now finally I’ve gone back to books.
Do you have any fun bookish memories?
When I was younger (around 7-9) my best friend and I were obsessed with Enid Blyton’s Enchanted World series written by Elise Allen. Whenever I went over to her house, we would play games, pretending that we were in the books and that the villains were going to find us. We used to play that game for hours.
Name a few of your favourites: Books/ Authors/ Characters/ Movies/ TV Shows etc.
Books: Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland, The School For Good and Evil series, The Paper and Hearts Society, The Harry Potter Series.
Authors: Soman Chainani, Alice Oseman, C.G. Drews
Movies: La La Land, Beauty and the Beast (live-action), Labyrinth, Heathers, Beetlejuice
TV Shows: Once Upon A Time, Downton Abbey, Doctor Who, Good Omens, Stranger Things
Where did you first hear about BBNYA and what made you decide to join?
I don’t remember exactly when I heard about it but I think it was retweeted onto my timeline. It was a time that I really wanted to start book blogging again and I loved the sound of being part of a book award. That’s not an opportunity that I’m going to get often.
What are some of your favourite indie/self-published books and why?
I haven’t read that many indie books recently as my TBR pile is very large. However, a few years ago I was obsessed with the Unfortunate Fairy Tales by Chanda Hahn and The Fallen Star series by Jessica Sorensen. They both had a fantasy spin which is my favourite genre and they were my first introduction to the YA genre of books.
Where can we find you?
