This weeks theme is signs that you are a book lover. If you ask my dad it would be the nearly daily arrival of books! But there are sooo many other things that show your love for books. I have overflowing shelves, piles of boxes full of merch, pin boards galore and some nerdy book quote t-shirts… and this is just how I outwardly show it. How do you show your love for books? Let me know in the comments.
Top Ten Tuesday is run by Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl and you should definitely go give her blog some love.
Stacks of books everywhere
My shelves are a mess, I have books stacked on my floor, in book boxes spread around my room and even after doing a massive un haul I still don’t have enough room. Will that stop me from buying more books… don’t be silly.
Ridiculously high romantic expectations
Rhysand, Jin, Dorian… and sooo many more have bumped my romantic expectations that high that no one has a chance of meeting them. Just as I got past my Disney Prince stage I started reading books with some swoon worthy male leads and beautifully written romances… so yea, I blame books for the reason I’m still single.
Would rather stay in than go out
Don’t get me wrong, I love spending time with my friends. However, sometimes I would just rather spend time with my friends in the pages of a book rather than those in real life. If i’m especially gripped by a book I have been known to re-schedule plans or turn up slightly late to events.
Seriously low bank balance
Since becoming a blogger my bank balance has not liked me one bit. Between book boxes, special editions, sprayed edges… I am such a sucker for sprayed edges… my shelves have grown out of control and I’ve been told it might be worth starting a book buyers anonymous.
Randomly quotes books
I do this all the time. Unfortunately, to people who have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about and it generally goes over their heads. It doesn’t stop me though, and I have had a few friends ask to borrow the book I’ve quoted so winner.
Wears ‘nerdy’ outfits ( fandom shirts, pins, badges etc.)
I have quite a few bookish t-shirts, pins etc that I wear pretty regularly and I love being able to meet mutual’s out and about when they recognise them. I’ve had some really fun convo’s with people on trains, buses in coffee shops etc simply from one of us complimenting something bookish the other is wearing.
Perfectly content in their own company
I don’t know if this is just me but I love ‘me time.’ I’m quite content working in my office alone, spending time in my room reading or listening to music. I love spending time with my friends and family, but I also live for the moments I can chill out by myself, with no expectations.
Hunched back from carrying all the books
Ok so I might be a little over dramatic on this one but when I’ve gone to bookish events/ Waterstone’s and come home with a bag full of book by back kills me! It’s totally worth it though and I would be quite happy turning into the Hunchback of Notre Dame for books.
Room is covered in bookish merch; pillowcases, prints, quotes.
I have 3 pin boards, bookish prints on my walls, pillows on my bed and add in the towering shelves full of books, candles and mugs and I don’t think anyone entering my room would struggle in grasping that I’m a book lover.
Always carries a book with them.
I always have a book one me. Mainly I carry my phone/kindle around. But if I’m on a long journey/ holiday I always like to take a physical book with me, just in case… you just cant trust technology these days.
