To start off with tell us a little about you

Hi! I’m Hannah and I blog over at Hannah’s Bookshelf (https://hannnahsbookshelf.wordpress.com/). I’m also a Children’s and YA bookseller so am pretty much surrounded by books 24/7! I’ve been blogging for almost two years now and absolutely love it.

When did you start blogging and what made you decide to start your blog

I set up my blog in September 2018 as I had not long graduated from university and was unsure about what I wanted to do next. My hope was to go into publishing so what better way to show just how much I loved books than getting to ramble about them on my own platform!

Do you have any fun bookish memories?

Aside from all of the bedtime stories that I was read as a child, my favourite bookish memory is meeting Rachel Caine (author of the Morganville Vampires series, among other things) in my local Waterstones when I was about fifteen. I was absolutely obsessed with that series, any pretty much anything YA that leant towards paranormal romance – I hit the Twilight phase really hard! – so being able to meet my favourite author was incredible. She was so lovely, drew little smiley vampire faces in the books I brought for her to sign and I even got to wear my Common Grounds t-shirt (one of the settings from the books). It was a perfectly bookish moment!

Name a few of your favourites: Books/ Authors/ Characters/ Movies/ TV Shows etc.

I’m a big YA fan and absolutely love Karen McManus, Holly Jackson, Bethany Rutter and Kiran Millwood Hargrave. I’m also a big fantasy fan, particularly of Katherine Arden’s Winternight Trilogy! Historical fiction is another of my favourite genres with Morris Gleitzman and Markus Zusak being some of my favourite authors. I’m currently reading The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal which combines my love of history and thrillers which is perfect! I love shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural and will always have a soft spot for The Tudors!

Where did you first hear about BBNYA and what made you decide to join?

I was contacted by Dave, the genius behind The Write Reads, and thought it was a fabulous way for us book bloggers to be able to champion books that we love on a bigger scale. I feel like we could really make an impact with this and I’m so excited to be a part of it!

What are some of your favourite indie/self-published books and why?

An absolute stand out for me was Love Punked by Nia Lucas – it’s real, it’s hilariously funny and it gave me ALL of the feels. I also really enjoyed Lurking in the Woods by Anne Stryker which is a wonderful mix of fantasy and romance. That led me on to read some other books of hers, all of which are self-published!

Where can we find you?
