It must be love! – Top Ten Tuesday

This weeks prompt was a Love freebie and i’ve decided to focus it on my favourite literary couples. These are the ones whose interactions I swoon over, and there are sooo many different romance tropes that I always manage to fall for; enemies to lovers, Prince charming rescuing the princes, Princess charming rescuing the Princess/Prince, slow burn, forbidden love… and so many more! There are some amazing and diverse romances being included in books nowadays that make for some steamy, swoon worthy and shivering moments. I’m going to show you my top 10, and include quotes some of my favourite quotes surrounding the relationships.

Top Ten Tuesday is run by Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl and you should definitely go give her blog some love.

Ead and Sabran – The Priory of the Orange Tree

“I would live alone for fifty years to have one day with you.”

Amani and Jin – Rebel of the Sands

“My knuckles skimmed over the edges of the sun tattooed over his heart. That was the last thing I noticed before I kissed him.

His jaw tensed in surprise for a moment; his hand gripped my arm hard enough to hurt. And then his body was flush against mine, pushing me back against the wall of the train.

I was a desert girl. I thought I knew heat.

I was wrong”

Vhalla and Aldrick – Air Awakens

“Vhalla blushed and averted her eyes from his handsome face. “It’s still a poor choice,” she whispered. “It always will be.” Aldrik stood. Her breath quickened by his proximity alone. He hooked his fingers under her chin and pulled her face upward gently. “If you want to make the widely accepted appropriate decision, then leave now, have mercy and end this before you entice me further. Because I promise, this will never be easy—for either of us—and I refuse to love you halfway.”

Iseult and Adeun – Witchlands

“From the day she had stabbed Aeduan in the heart, that heart had become hers—and she would not let this be his end.”

Kell and Lila – A Darker Shade of Magic

“And then the door burst open, and Lila Bard stormed in (…) and Rhy watched his brother move toward her as naturally as if the world had simply tipped.
For Kell, apparently, it had.”

Yumeko and Hakaimono – Shadow of the Fox

“Watching her, I found myself holding my breath, unable to look away. For just a moment, with her dark hair rippling about and her skin glowing under the lantern light, she was mesmerizing.”

Casiopea and Hun Kame – Gods of Jade and Shadow

“He made her forget not through arcane sorcery but with his mere presence.”

Elisabeth and Nathaniel – Sorcery of Thorns

“God, Elisabeth, I’ve been doomed since the moment I watched you smack a fiend off my carriage with a crowbar. How could you not tell? Silas has been rolling his eyes at me for weeks.”

Zafira and Nasir – We Hunt the Flame

“The tase of him – dates and spice – combined deliciously with the myrrh of his skin, dizzying her. He pulled her harder against him, and Zafira grabbed fistfuls of his hair. If this was what it felt like to be lost in the darkness, she never wanted to be found again.”

Vasya and Morozko – The Winternight trilogy

“She bent forward to breathe into his ear: “Never give me orders.”
“Command me, then,” he whispered back. The words went through her like wine.”

So what do you think? Would any of these couples make your list? Are there any you dont like? Do you have any others you would add? Let me know in the comments.

  1. These quotes! *fans self* They’re definitely giving off all those romance feels! Haha I haven’t read all of these but now I’m questioning why! Nathaniel and Elisabeth are my fave though and that quote had me giggling thinking about that book 😍 Great love freebie!
