The Folk of the Air Book Tag #2

I was tagged in this by the lovely Xandra over at Starry Sky Book’s, and you guys should definitely go and give her blog some love! She made the original Folk of the Air book tag after the release of The Wicked King, and has updated it now with some prompts solely from Queen of Nothing.

RULES:

  1. You must tag the original creator (Xandra @ Starry Sky Books)
  2. You should probably read The Cruel Prince first! (You don’t have tobut that would be nice.)
  3. Answer the questions as best as possible. (You can skip or omit a question if you can’t think of an answer!)
  4. Try to tag at least 3 other bloggers.

Jude – A Character who could kill you in your sleep

I can think of a couple for this, and most of them are female, but I think I will have to go with one of my favourite Literary characters… Miss Delilah Bard. Not only would she be able to kill me in my sleep, but she would do it with style!

Cardan – A Character who seems like a bad guy, but is more complex than you think.

I going to change it a bit and choose a character who you think is a bad guy but is actually a Cinnamon roll and go with Hypnos from The Gilded Wolves. I really wasn’t sure of him at first, but he just kept growing on me until he became one of my favourite characters.

Locke – A Plot twist that made you want to throw the book

I was scrolling though my Kindle wondering if I had a book that fit this and then I hit Jay Kristoff! Do all his books count? No? Ok then, how about the ending of Godsgrave! I’m not going to say wha happened because spoilers, but let’s just say I definitely considered throwing my book.

Taryn – A Character who deceived you

I’m gonna have to go with PC Lesley May from Ben Aaronovitch’s Rivers of London series for this one. I truly did not see her betrayal coming and though I’m pretty sure she had her reasons I was still majorly shocked when it happened.

Vivi – A book that was significantly different than the others in the series.

I’m really struggling with this one… I can’t think of any series where one book has seemed significantly different!

Valerian – A character who should get stabbed out of the plot

Niclays Roos from Priory of the Orange Tree! I get that he was one of the main characters and one of the perspectives we got to read but I just never liked him, he never grew on me and I couldn’t have cared less if he died.

Oak – A small character who you would protect at all costs

Dobby, Dobby my poor little house elf! I cried like a baby when he died, and still do every time I read it.

Madoc – A relentless character who will stop at nothing to get what they want

I feel like Levana from The Lunar Chronicles fits this pretty well. I mean she’s pretty much willing to kill everyone to get the throne and get off the moon. If that’s not stopping at nothing I don’t know what is.

The Serpent – A mysterious character or book you know little about

I read Below recently and there was a character who though he played a rather large part in the plot we learnt very little about; Numiek the Face Stealing Demon. I can see his character being one we get to dive into a little more in the next book and I cannot wait to find out more about his mysterious backstory.

The Cruel Prince – A book that surprised you with a good twist

Hmmm. A good twist you say? Maybe Sisters of Shadow and Light. I spent most of the first half of the book terrified that I was getting drawn into a terrible love triangle between sisters. Luckily the author had other plans and I was pleasantly surprised at the ending.

The Wicked King – A sequel you thought was better, or worse, than the first in the series

I’m gonna have to go with Traitor to the Throne. I LOVED Rebel of the Sands, and to this day it is one of my favourite fantasy trilogies, but Traitor nearly killed me (in a good way). That scene when Amani and Jin reunite *swoon* and I loved learning more about the characters that were introduced in book one.

The Queen of Nothing – A series with one or more characters who change a lot over time.

I feel the the Throne of Glass series is a good example of this. Seeing Celaena become Aelin the queen she was meant to be, watching her and Manon’s relationship evolve, seeing Lorcan change his ways. So many characters had amazing arc’s through this series.

Time for Tags!

I’m not actually going to tag anyone in this but feel free to take part and please link back to me so I can read all your answers!
