I’m a sucker for a good christmas film. One of my favourite things about Christmas is throwing everybody out of the house, sticking on a good film and wrapping all the presents. Though some of these are slightly less traditional they all feature Christmas in one way or another and never fail to get me in the spirit. I think my favourite has to be Miracle on 34th Street which I remember watching as a kid, and still love to this day! What is your favourite Christmas film?
I took this prompt from Jenns 2018 Blogmas post ideas which you can find here!
Home Alone
I’ve yet to find someone who doesn’t like these films. I tried, year after year, to get my parents to go on holiday over Christmas and leave me alone… alas it never happened.
Miracle on 34th Street
This is probably my all time favourite. I think one of the main reasons was that it had the little girl from Matilda in, but it’s just so magical and gives me all the warm Christmas feels.
Polar Express
I’ve been a bit wary of modern christmas films and found a few of them lacking that Christmas magic, but this one… this one stole the show. It came out when I was well into my twenties, and yet every time I watch it I revert to a 5 year old again who still believes in father Christmas.
The Holiday
Ok. So not a traditional Christmas film, but I love it all the same. I laughed and cried my way through this film, and it made me develop a little crush on Jack Black ‘I only used the good notes’ *swoon*.
The Family Stone
This film has me in hysterics every single time I watch it. Talk about a crazy family! Rachel McAdams totally makes this film for me, and I love seeing all the relationships between this dysfunctional family. Again not a traditional film, and prepare for a few tears, but definitely one worth checking out.
Santa Claus the movie
I loved this film as a kid, and it still holds a special place in my heart. Dudley Moore will always be my favourite elf, and the guy who played father christmas nailed it. Add in a baddy who wants to steal a special recipe that makes the reindeer fly… a proper family adventure.
Scrooge
There are SO many adaptations of this book, but this one is definitely my favourite. I think being a musical fan, I was drawn to this one more than the others, it also helped that I had ‘Thank you very much’ stuck in my head for about a month after watching it for the first time.
The Snowman
My Christmas day isn’t complete without watching this beaut of a cartoon. I found this so magical as a child, and loved the bit with all the Snowmen dancing. This is a staple in out household, but only ever on Christmas Day.
Ho ho ho… those are some of my all time favourite Christmas films. Would any of these make your list? Or do you have a favourite I haven’t mentioned? Let me know in the comments.
