First Lines Friday!

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

I’m finally out of my ARC backlog! Honestly it’s such a relieving feeling, because there are too many books due out/ that I already own that I want to read immediately… i’m talking Ninth House, Darkdawn etc. I’m currently reading a really fantastic story steeped in Inuit mythology, and then i’m free!! What are you all planning to read/do this weekend? Let me know in the comments.

For this weeks First Line Friday I’m choosing to focus on a well loved series of mine. I couldn’t get enough of the world this author created. With slowww burn romance, some truly fantastically written characters and a plot that will have you picking up book after book.

Summer storms were common in the capital and Vhalla Yarl had endured their visits in the seven years since she had moved from the East, but lightning and thunder were never welcome guests.

Are you intrigued? Ready to find out what it is?

I love this series sooo much! I flew through all 5 books within a week when I picked it up last year, and have been thoroughly enjoying the authors follow on series; Vortex Visions. I am regretting choosing this now though, because it’s made me want to re-read it again and I dont.have.the.time! Have you read this series? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
