First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
Well I think I am well and truly out of my reading slump, I’ve managed to read 5 books in the last 2 weeks and they’ve all be sooo good! Honestly 2019 has been a steamer for releases, I don’t think I’ve read a bad one yet. If you had to pick your favourite book of the year so far what would it be?
The book I’ve chosen for this weeks First Line Friday is due out later this month and I cannot recommend it enough! Though not a typical YA novel, I was blown away by the authors prose and descriptive writing.
When I was seven I found a door. I suspect I should capitalise the word, so you understand I’m not talking about your garden- or common-variety door that leads reliably to a white tiled kitchen or a bedroom closet.
Honestly this book was so good! Are you ready to find out what it is?

I know I’ve said this before but truly… you all need to read this! I was swept away for a ride I wasn’t sure I could or wanted to get off. January is a fantastically written character and I’m sure you will all fall in love with her just like I did. If you want to check out some more quotes from the book, or read me gush about it more then see my review here.

Yes! You definitely should. Not a traditional YA novel but I honestly adored it 😊
