First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
Ahhh! I have a relatively free weekend and I am SO looking forward to it… but before my chilled weekend I’m spending the day at Leeds Festival waiting to see one of my all time favourite bands, The Foo Fighters! I’ve seen them once before, but when my dad offered to pay for us all to go this year it was a no brainer. So I’ll need a chilled out weekend after screaming my head off tonight. This is a bonus because a free weekend means reading! And maybe I can finally knock a few more books off my TBR.
This weeks book is ANOTHER one off my TBR… I know, I know, but its definitely helping me to pick these books up because some of the first lines are sooo intriguing!
My big brother reaches home in the dark hours before dawn, when even ghosts take their rest. He smells of the enemy.
See intriguing right? Ready to find out what it is???

I’ve been meaning to read this series for forever, I’ve heard raving reviews and it does sound right up my street. I feel like this might be a silly question, but have any of you read this yet? Let me know your thoughts.

I’ve heard so many good things! I’m trying to hold out until the series is finished so I don’t have to wait for the books 😆

I kind of wish they put out whole series at once. Then if you like the first book you could just get the whole damn thing at the same time lol

This would make life so much easier! Although I doubt my bank balance would like me 😆

But does any bank account like reading as a hobby?

Very true! Although I am being good at the minute and am on a bit of a book buying ban… we’ll see how long it lasts 😆
