After fifty years as a wife and mother, Enid Lambert is ready to have some fun. Unfortunately her husband, Alfred, is losing his sanity, and their children have long since fled for the catastrophes of their own lives. As Alfred’s condition worsens and the Lamberts are forced to face their secrets and failures, Enid sets her heart on one last family Christmas.
I honestly do not remember adding this to my TBR, and I cant say that the premise is really drawing me in. Have you read this? If so please let me know your thoughts, but for now my decision will be: Go

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. The black sign, painted in white letters that hangs upon the gates, reads:
Opens at Nightfall
Closes at Dawn
As the sun disappears beyond the horizon, all over the tents small lights begin to flicker, as though the entirety of the circus is covered in particularly bright fireflies. When the tents are all aglow, sparkling against the night sky, the sign appears.
Le Cirque des Rêves
The Circus of Dreams.
Now the circus is open.
Now you may enter.
I know I know! I feel like the reason I’ve put this one off for so long is that It cant possibly live up to the hype. That being said, I definitely intend to read it at some point ( and I may have to give it a boost up my TBR) so my decision is: Keep

When Esther Greenwood wins an internship on a New York fashion magazine in 1953, she is elated, believing she will finally realise her dream to become a writer. But in between the cocktail parties and piles of manuscripts, Esther’s life begins to slide out of control. She finds herself spiralling into depression and eventually a suicide attempt, as she grapples with difficult relationships and a society which refuses to take women’s aspirations seriously.
I’ve been meaning to read this book for far too long! It was actually recommended to me by a friend, and although I bought the kindle copy, I still haven’t found the time to start it. It is one I definitely intend to get round too, so my decision is: Keep

Under the influence of their charismatic classics professor, a group of clever, eccentric misfits at an elite New England college discover a way of thinking and living that is a world away from the humdrum existence of their contemporaries. But when they go beyond the boundaries of normal morality they slip gradually from obsession to corruption and betrayal, and at last – inexorably – into evil.
This is another book I’m afraid wont live up to the hype. The premise sounds really intriguing, and I’ve heard some rave reviews about this one. Another one I intend to pick up, so my decision is: Keep

It’s the closing months of World War II and Yossarian has never been closer to death. Stationed in an American bomber squadron off the coast of Italy, each flight mission introduces him to thousands of people determined to kill him.
But the enemy above is not Yossarian’s problem – it is his own army intent on keeping him airborne, and the maddening ‘Catch-22’, that allows for no possibility of escape.
I’m pretty sure I added this off a list of books you should read before you die. It does sound interesting, however, I’ve heard that its a bit weird? I’m a bit 50/50 on this one, and I know channel 4 has just done a TV version on the book so I might give that a go before I decide for good.
Well! That was fairly successful. I managed to knock one book off my TBR, and have on that I’m 50/50 on. I also found some books that I need to bump up my TBR because the reviews are all shining. Have you read any of these books? Let me know your thoughts.

I adore The Corrections, but it is not for everyone! I can never resist a book about a dysfunctional family, and I usually always enjoy this type of so-called literary fiction. I have read a few of Jonathan Franzen’s books and like his writing style, especially his ability to alternate between the highly realistic and the mildly ludicrous. (I also adore Catch-22, have a lot of love for The Bell Jar, and have The Secret History very high on my to-read list.)

I do like literary fiction, but I have to be in the mood to read it. Glad you liked Catch-22 & The Bell Jar… I’ve been meaning to read them for too long 🙈.
