First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
Hi guys! Not sure if you all know this about me but im a big rugby fan, in fact im off to Twickenham this weekend to watch England play Wales in a World Cup pre-game and im really looking forward to it! This means, however, that my reading will be almost non-existent this weekend which is a bit of a pain considering I was just catching up. What have you all got planned for the weekend? Let me know in the comments.
The book I’ve chosen to focus on this week is another off my TBR by one of my all time favourite authors.
The Narrows reminded me of August nights in the South. They remind me of old rocks and places where the light cant reach.
They remind me of smoke-the stale, settled kind-and of storms of damp earth.
Most of all, Da, they remind me of you.
Well, I think Ill definitely be moving this one up my TBR! Ready to find out what it is?
This book sounds right up my street, and Schwab is one of my favourite authors… I cant wait to dig into this one. Have you read this one already? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
