First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
I’ve had such a chilled out week, it’s been sooo nice. I’ve been off work and headed down south to visit some family, so it’s been days out to the beach and trips into Salisbury. But because I’ve been away I’ve had a slightly slower reading week than normal so I’ll have to try and catch up over the weekend.
This First lines Friday is from another favourite series of mine, and the last book in the series is due out later this year.
I placed my thumb and forefinger on the icy flesh, spreading it taut above the breastbone as Uncle had showed me.
Are you intrigued? You should be. This is from a kick ass series set in Victorian London and if you haven’t guessed what it is yet you can find out below.
That’s right! It’s Stalking Jack The Ripper. This series has become a fast favourite of mine and Audrey Rose and Thomas are definitely my OTP. Have you read this series yet? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
