First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
This week has flown by! I blazed through Priory and have just finished The Kingdom by Jess Rothenberg, which was so totally fresh I loved it!. I’m still slowly but surely getting though my ARC backlog, and TBR but I’m really excited for some of the book’s I’ve lined up to read next. What have all your reading weeks been like? Let me know in the comments.
This book is another that I have heard rave reviews for, including off some of my favourite authors so I am determined to pick it up soon.
Lady Francis Burrow’s guests had not noticed her butler particularly when he showed them into the house, but the self-important flourish with which he now flung open the door piqued curiosity.
Ready to find out what it is?
I’ve had this on my TBR for ages, and every review I’ve seen so far has been positive. This will definitely need bumping up. Have you read this book? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
