Light’s, Camera, Action!- Book’s I’d like to see made into TV series – Top Ten Tuesday!

Hello fellow bookworms! This weeks Top Ten Tuesday was a page to screen freebie, so I decided to talk about amazing books that I would love to see made into TV series/Films. With the news of Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse coming to Netflix, everybody has been talking about what books they would love to see turned into movies/TV series. There will always be those wary of Book to TV adaptations, and ill admit to being among them. However, recently Netflix seem to have broken the mould and have come out with some fantastic adaptations, such as To All the Boys I’ve Loved before and Dumplin’. I have high hopes for the Grisha series and cant wait until they start announcing the casting. That being said there are tonnes of books/series that I think deserve to be adapted for TV, and this post will focus on some of them. Are you excited for the Grishaverse adaptation? And if so what other series would you like to be made into TV shows or movies? Let me know in the comments!

Top Ten Tuesday is run by Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl.

A Darker Shade of Magic series by Victoria Schwab

This is one of my all time favourite YA/Fantasy series and I would love to see Red London make its way onto my TV screen. Add to this some of Lila’s iconic lines that were MADE FOR TV, and this would make a super series.

The Lunar Chronicles Marissa Meyer

Cyborgs in space! What more could you need to make a top notch TV series. Sci-Fi series are becoming more and more popular, and I would be super excited if this was made into a TV series. If only to see my charming Captain Carswell Thorne brought to life.

Air Awakens by Elise Kova

Probably the least well known of my pics, but Kova builds such an intricate and exciting world with the Solaris Empire that its sure to make an easy transition onto TV. Add to this some fantastically written characters that you cant help but fall in love with, and this should be an easy adaption.

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannnon

Just imagine seeing the Seven Dials through Paige’s eyes. This is a top pic of mine, one; because its set in some of my all time favourite places to visit in London and two; because I just think the characters and plot line would lend itself easily to TV. Imagine being able to see Warden in all his glory, and follow Paige and the rest of Jaxon’s crew around Seven Dials.

The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden

I could fall so easily into fantasy Russia. To be able to bring Vasya, Morozko, Cheluby and all the other Cheryti to life would be amazing. I think this would be such a magical series, and its definitely in my top picks to be made into one!

Mistborn Trilogy By Brandon Sanderson

This is the first series of Brandon Sanderson’s that I’ve read and I just feel this would lend itself really easily to TV. With the leaps and bounds that have been made in CGI over the past years, I don’t think we would have trouble bringing the Empire and all its creatures to life. I also think it would be great to see ‘Mistborn’ magic on screen, it took me a while to envisage in my head what it would look like, and I think being able to see it in action would definitely help.

The Witchlands Series by Susan Dennard

This series would make such an epic transformation onto the big screen. A completely fresh magic system, and world building to kill for. I would love to see all my favourites brought to life and to be able to visit all the Witchlands.

Rebel of the Sands trilogy by Alwyn Hamilton

Who’s with me in thinking this would be epic brought to the big screen. Being able to follow Amani and Jin’s epic story, and seeing their awesome romance on screen. Being able to see the Miraji brought to life, along with all the mythical creatures would be awesome, and I’m seriously hoping someone picks this up for TV!

Nevernight by Jay Kritoff

This would definitely be an ‘after the watershed’ kind of TV series, but cant you just picture the epicness that is Mia Corvere brought to life! This series would be gruesome, hilarious, sad and everything in between and I would absolutely die if they made this into the dark TV series it deserves to be.

Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch

Described as “The Bill meets Harry Potter” this series was made for a TV adaptation. These books are hilariously witty, and I would kill to see magical London brought to life. Imagine being able to meet Molly and Nightingale, and being able to visit the Folly. Lets just say you may never see the ‘Rivers of London’ in the same way again.

I could go on and on, realistically I would love every book/series that I enjoyed to be made into a TV series or film, but I’ll admit that may be slightly unrealistic! Do you agree with any of my choices, or are there any you want to add? Let me know in the comments.
