First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
Well, the idea from last week worked, so for the next few weeks at least I’ll be picking books from my TBR in the hope it will get me to pick some of them up instead of buying more books!! Wish me luck.
Here’s this weeks quote:
Kalak rounded a rocky stone ridge and stumbled to a stop before the body of a dying thunderclast. The enormous stone beast lay on its side, riblike protrusions from its chest broken and cracked. The monstrosity was vaguely skeletal in shape, with unnaturally long limbs that sprouted from granite shoulders. The eyes were deep red spots on the arrowhead face, as if created by a fire burning deep within the stone. They faded.
Sounds good right? This is from a top author of mine. and I’ve heard really good things about this series so I will definitely be picking it up!
Got any guesses??
I’ve had this series on my TBR for too long and, having loved everything else I had read by Bandon Sanderson, I have high hopes for this series. Have you read this? Let me know your thoughts on the comments.
