First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
So here go’s

Are you intrigued yet??? This is from the first book in a series that I absolutely adore. It was described as Harry Potter mixed with The Bill ( a UK police drama), so I was sure I was going to like it.
Are you ready to find out what it is??
Have you read this series yet? Its sooo good! The perfect blend of humour, magic and adventure all set in London. I was lucky to meet Ben at a Gollancz bloggers event recently, and he is just the funniest guy! This series is filled to the brim with sarcasm, and typical British humour and I just cant get enough.
