I found this tag over at Expressions of a Bookworm, and it looked too fun to pass up… plus, you know, Harry Potter!
Expecto Patronum – A Childhood book connected to good memories.
I remember being in Primary School and my Dad sitting in the hallway reading The Hobbit to me and my sisters. I used to try so hard to stay awake so he would read more!
Expelliarmus – A Book that took you by surprise
I’ve recently read Once Upon a River, and did not expect to like it as much as I did. I devoured it, and it has become an all time favourite read for me.
Prior Incantato – The last book you read
I’ve just finished Nocturna and enjoyed it. It had a fresh magic system, and was pretty much the king of slow burn… it nearly killed me.
Alohamora – A book that introduced you to a genre you had not considered before.
I was adamant that I wouldn’t like Romance fiction, until my friend lent me Sheer Mischief by Jill Mansell, and I was hooked. I’ve never really branched out in the genre though, but stuck to Jill’s books because I enjoy them too much.
Riddikulus – A funny book you read
The Martian is probably one of the funniest books I’ve ever read, even if I didn’t expect it. Its just so witty, and I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at certain parts.
“It’s true, you know. In space, no one can hear you scream like a little girl.”
Sonorus – A book you think everyone should know about
The Greatcoats series by Sebastien De Castell. Quite possibly my favourite adult fantasy series, and I don’t hear much about it. These books are so witty and heartbreaking, and I love them all.
Obliviate – A book or spoiler you would like to forget having read
Remembering this makes me so angry, but when the Half-Blood Prince came out I was on holiday, and wasn’t going to be able to read it until I got home. A friend of mine messaged me before checking If I had read it saying “omg I cant believe they killed Dumbledore.” Cut to me sending an extremely angry text, and having a major plot twist spoiled for me.
Imperio – A book I had to read for school
We read Of Mice and Men in high school and the book nearly broke me. It was so heart-breaking, and such a good read.
Crucio – A book that was painful to read
In my first year of college we had to read Great Expectations. We had the dullest lecturer ever, and because of that I ended up hating the book and literally struggling through reading it. I definitely wont be picking it up again.
Avada Kedavra – A book that could kill (interpret as you will)
I’m going to take this in the literal sense and say Priory of the Orange Tree. Have you seen the size of that book?? A weighty knock to the head and I don’t reckon you would be waking up!
This was a really fun tag to do, so if you fancy taking part consider yourself tagged!
