First Lines Friday

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

This is from a newly discovered series for me, but it has some of the best world building, and some truly hilarious and loveable characters. If you’re a fan of Sarah J Maas then you will love these books.

Have you read this series? What did you think? I managed to get E-arcs of the first two books in the series, and the third has just been released. I would definitely recommend these for anyone in need to of a good fantasy read, with some really witty characters, and a magic system that is wholly original.
