First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
Pretend, for just a moment, that you have attained your most deep-seated desire. Not the simple, sensible one you tell your friends about, but the dream that’s so close to your heart that even as a child you hesitated to speak it out loud.
And that’s all you’re going to get, because the next line is spoilery as hell!
This is from one of my all time favourite series, I seriously love these books, and the author so much!
If you haven’t read this series, then what are you waiting for?? Seriously though if you’re in the mood for some swashbuckling, robin hoodesque characters, that, most of the time make things far to hard for themselves, then this is the series for you.
I’m so bad for sneaking a peak at the first few lines of a book before I buy it, so when I saw this post I knew it would be a fab and interesting way for me to find new reads! I will (hopefully) be making this a weekly post. Are you like me, do you read the first line/lines of a book before picking it up, or do you shy away from any sort of spoiler? Let me know in the comments.
