Hello and welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday hosted by the lovely Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl.
This weeks Top Ten Tuesday is all about Standalone books that we think need or deserve a sequel. I didn’t realise until starting this post how few books I’ve read are actually standalone’s, it would seem I’m more of a series fan. That being said some of my favourite books are standalone’s, and I would love to be able to dive into those worlds again with a fresh story line. Which standalone’s that you have read do you think need a sequel? Or are you happy with the one book? Let me know in the comments.
I’ve recently heard that Suri is writing a companion nove,l but that it will focus on different characters from the first book, and… I just need more of Mehr and Amun. I adored their relationship, and need to know what will happen to them after the end of the book!
I mean who doesn’t want to read more about Agnieszka and the Dragon? I adored this book and would love to be able to dive into this world again, without knowing the ending.
Empress of All Seasons – Emiko Jean
I’ll admit to not being a massive fan of this book the reason being… it needed a sequel. I really felt the ending was rushed, and what happened in the Epilogue could have easily been made into a follow on novel. I was so disappointed, because this book had so much promise, and I just feel a sequel would have made it so much better.
Wonder Woman: Warbringer – Leigh Bardugo
I get that all the DC Icons books are technically sequels in their own right, but I just want more of Diana. She was by far my favourite character and this was my favourite book. This again shows Leigh’s writing prowess, even after seeing and loving the film, I still got hooked on this story line and fell in love with the characters. I would be unbelievably happy if she wrote a sequel.
Well there we go, again I struggled to pick 10, 4 was as good as I could get. But I feel that’s because Standalone’s aren’t as popular nowadays, and authors know they can make more money writing sequels. Are there any on my list that you agree with? Let me know in the comments.

It is funny you mentioned Empire of Sand. My first thought was… but there is a sequel coming lol. I hadn’t heard it was with different characters. That is a bummer.

I know! From what I heard it will be based around her sister, so not sure how much these characters will appear.

Hmmm… interesting. Wonder if she is trying to build a whole universe like Bardugo did where she integrated characters while introducing new ones?

I would love for there to be a Warbringer sequel! I felt like I’d just started really liking the characters right when the book ended. :p

Especially within the fantasy genre, there are barely standalones.. My list contains mostly contemporary, even though I mainly read fantasy haha
