Topic Tuesday! Top 5 books I wish I could read again for the first time.

Hello fellow bookworms! I have been lucky to read so many amazing books throughout the years, and there are some that I have already re-read or I certainly will read again. However, there are some books out there that were so good, I wish I could read them again as if it were the first time. To not already know the ending, or which characters end up together etc. This post will focus on my top 5, although I can guarantee there are more. Are there any books out there that you wish you could read for the first time? Let me know in the comments, I always love recommendations!

Harry Potter by J K Rowling

I know this is a series but its not cheating right? I read the Philosophers Stone when I was in primary school and fell in love with Harry, Hermione and Ron. I must have re-read this series once a year since the final book was released, but I would love to be able to read it again for the first time! To be able to read it not knowing the outcome of each book, not knowing when some of my favourite characters were going to die (Dobby, Sirius, Tonks, Lupin… I could go on), and to feel my heart pounding through the final battle of Hogwarts. I should just post-pone my re-read a year and see if it makes a difference but I have no will power.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

This was the first “adult” book I read as a teen, and at only 13 it made such a huge impact on me. I would love to be able to read this again as if it was the first time, however, I’m glad I read it at I age I did, with Scout being a similar age as me when I read it the first time, I feel it had more of an impact than if I would have read it later in life. It made a massive headway into me reading more mature style novels and I’m so grateful for it. However, I feel there is no time more than now where this book could be more relevant, and would love to be able to read it again now not knowing what was in store for me.

Uprooted by Naomi Novic

I cant tell you how much I love this book. I only read it for the first time about 4 years ago, but have re-read it at least 3 times since. It was one of the first fairy tale like stories I read and made me delve more into that sub-genre. I would love to be able to read this for the first time again, to see the relationship build between Agnieszka and the Dragon, and to read that ending again!

Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

This was a book that took me a few tries before I finished it, but as soon as I did I wanted to read it all over again. This has become a fast favourite of mine and after the cliffhanger at the end of Godsgrave I would love to read the series again before Darkdawn’s release. I have absolutely no idea what will happen in book 3 but I really wish I could read the first two for the first time not knowing all of Mia’s story.

Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

This series really made me get into Middle-Eastern inspired Fantasy, and it made me pick up so many similar books since finishing. I would love to read this series again for the first time to relive the relationship between Amani and Jin, I mean that reunion scene in book two! If you haven’t read this series you really should, and I’m not at all jealous you’ll be reading it for the first time!
