The 20 Questions Book Tag

Hi! Seeing as im new to book blogging world I thought I’d take part in this Tag so you could all get to know me a bit better.

1. How many books is too many books in a book series?

Is there such a thing as too many books in a series?? I think this totally depends on the Genre of book, most fantasy, Ya series are no more than 6 which seems like a good number, you get a chance to really learn about the characters etc. However, some series, crime especially, can be much longer and the longest series I’ve read is the Alexandra Cooper series by Linda Fairstein with 18 books out and more to come.

2. How do you feel about cliffhangers?

If I can get my hands on the next book straight away, fine. I do understand the need for a good cliffhanger but I definitely die inside a little when I have to wait a year for the next book.

3. Hardcopy or paperback?

Paperback for ease of storage and reading but Hardback for all the pretty covers 😍.

4. Favourite book?

This is a hard one but I would have to say To Kill a Mockingbird. I know it sounds kind of obvious but it was the first “adult” book I read as a teenager and it really resonated with me. I’ve read this multiple times over the years and it still hits me with the same feels it did the first time I read it.

5. Least favourite book?

I would have to say The Girl on the Train, I painstakingly finished this to an easily predictable and disappointing ending. After all the hype this was a definite let down.

6. Love triangles, yes or no?

Yes if done right, along the lines of Sarah J Maas in TOG and Suzanne Collins with The Hunger Games. But I have read some books with truly bad love triangles such as Burning Glass by Kathryn Purdie.

7. The most recent book you just couldn’t finish?

The last Mrs Parish, I could easily predict where the book was going and didn’t feel the need to read on knowing what was to happen, I also didn’t like the premise, the idea that Rape and domestic abuse is an acceptable punishment for stealing someones husband is just ridiculous.

8. A book you’re currently reading?

After just finishing Godsgrave I’m taking an emotional break for a few days but next on my list is Spellslinger by Sebastien De Castell. I thoroughly enjoyed his Greatcoats series and cant wait to dig into this one.

9. Last book you recommended to someone?

The bone Collector by Jeffrey Deaver. My friend is a big fan of crime books and I was surprised when she said shed never read a Deaver book before. This wasn’t so much of a recommendation as me placing the book in her hands and telling her she had to read it.

10. Oldest book you’ve read?

I read Great Expectation by Charles Dickens for college. Unfortunately I had THE most boring teacher and he put me off reading any other Dickens novel.

11. Newest book you’ve read?

That would have to be Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik seeing as its not been released yet. I managed to get hold of an arc of this and if you want to read my review you can find it here.

12. Favourite author?

This is an incredibly hard choice… but if I had to pick one it would be J K Rowling. I grew up reading Harry Potter and it had such an impact on me as a child I cant help but love Rowling for writing it.

13. Buying books or borrowing books?

Based on my bookcases and my kindle I’d have to say buying. Id love to be able to say borrowing if only to save my bank balance but my local library has a dismal selection.

14. A book you dislike that everyone else seem to love?

I know I might get stick for this one but The Cruel Prince by Holly Black, it had a slightly better ending but the rest of the book was a massive let down after all the hype built around it.

15. Bookmarks or dog-ears?

Bookmarks, and I have so many pretty ones from book subscription boxes!

16. A book you can always reread?

Well going off my favourite author it would have to be Harry Potter, I’ve read these almost once a year since they were released and they never get old.

17. Can you read while hearing music?

No, I have a horrendous attention span and am far too easily distracted 😂

18. One POV or multiple POV’s?

I like both TBH I love the Game of thrones series where each chapter follows a separate characters storyline. However, I do enjoy being able to follow one person through the whole book as I feel your’e able to bond more withe the character.

19. Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

Totally depends on the book! I’ve read some of my favourite books in one sitting and others have taken me weeks to read. Whether im busy with work and tired also impact this.

20. Who do you tag?

Well seeing as I don’t really know anyone I wont tag people unless you want me too so get in touch!
